Short Description / Abstract
The Plenipotentiary Conference of the International Telecommunication Union, gathered in Marrakesh (2002) adopted a Revised resolution 70 - Gender Mainstreaming in ITU - reaffirming all the principles expressed in Resolution 7 (1998) and 70 (1998), welcoming the initiative taken by Norway to provide a Senior Gender Adviser to the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) in an effort to assist ITU in carrying out its mandate for gender mainstreaming in ITU-D. Furthermore, it encourages Member States to review their policies related to the information society to ensure the inclusion of a gender perspective in all activities; and invites the ITU Council to continue and expand on the initiatives carried out to accelerate the gender mainstreaming process in ITU.
