Short Bio

Alton Grizzle works at the UNESCO HQ, Paris as Programme Specialist in Communication and Information. He is the co-manager of UNESCO’s global actions on media and information literacy (MIL). Alton has diverse education and experience in the fields of education, management, information systems and media and communication. He has conceptualized and spearheaded many projects in media development, communication for development and MIL.
Alton Grizzle started his career in the field of education at the Mico University College where he completed a Diploma in secondary education, majoring in mathematics and music. He later pursued a Bachelors Degree with a double major in management and economics at the University of the West Indies (UWI). During several years of teaching and working in the NGO sector to facilitate the human development of some of the most marginalised communities in Jamaica, he got involved in and spearheaded a number of ICTs for development initiatives He later acquired a Masters of Science in Computer-based Management Information Systems at the UWI. Mr. Grizzle joined the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) where he worked as National Professional Officer in Communication and Information for five years in the UNESCO Cluster Office for the Caribbean.
