Mapping Internet Governance

Internet policy has become a key area in the global governance of media and communication processes and in highlighting emerging governance trends. Non-state actors have taken a prominent role, policy development is often informal and concerns technical aspects such as standards and protocols, and global fora of policy debate have included the World Summit on the Information Society and the Internet Governance Forum.

On the occasion of the 3rd Global Internet Governance Academic Workshop which will take place 30/31 May in Montreal, Claudia Padovani and Arne Hintz will introduce the 'Mapping Global Media Policy' project and discuss its potential for scholarly collaboration in the field of Internet governance. The workshop is organized by the Global Internet Governance Academic Network (GigaNet), in collaboration with The Canadian Communication Association and Media@McGill. The presentation Mapping Internet Governance: A Proposal for Scholarly Collaboration will take plave on Monday afternoon, 31 May.

On Thursday 3 May, Padovani and Hintz will also discuss the project at the annual conference of the Canadian Communications Association (CCA), with the presentation Mapping Global Media Policy: concepts, frameworks, methods and challenges.
