Kurt Beck is a German politician (Social Democratic Party SPD). Since 1994 Beck serves as head of the Rhineland-Palatinate Land government (one of Germany’s 16 federal states). Beck has been President of the German Bundesrat (Federal Council) (2000 - 2001), Chairman of the SPD (2006 – 2008), and head of the Rundfunkkommission der Länder (States Broadcasting Commission) (1994 to present).
