In 1994, in collaboration with Isis-International Manila and the International Women’s Tribune Centre (IWTC), the World Association for Christian Communication held the first ever international conference on women and communication entitled ‘Women Empowering Communication’ (WEC) in Bangkok, Thailand. At the conference, women from all over the world developed a series of strategies and resolutions for empowering women in and through the media. Those views and strategies are consolidated in the ‘Bangkok Declaration’.
