Short Description / Abstract
The WSIS Tunis Commitment is the 'political chapeau' of the final outcome of the WSIS process. In the document, Governments reiterate their unequivocal support for the Geneva Declaration of Principles and Plan of Action adopted at the first phase of the World Summit on the Information Society in Geneva in December 2003 and reaffirm their desire and commitment to build a people-centred, inclusive and development-oriented Information Society. Restating all the principles expressed in the 2003 Declaration, they further commit themselves to promote universal, ubiquitous, equitable and affordable access to ICTs, and to monitor such developments; in the conviction that all stated goals can be accomplished through the involvement, cooperation and partnership of governments and other stakeholders.
